Marcellous S. Butler
President & Co-Founder
Mr. Butler has a diversified professional skill set and over 16 years of project management and business development experience. Mr. Butler is Alpha Energy's President and is responsible for the overall management of the company. Mr. Butler studied at the Fox School of Business at Temple University and has extensive experience in financial management, business operations and energy.
During his residential and commercial development career, Marcellous took a strong interest in the integration of solar and wind technologies. He designed and built several state of the art solar applications at his commercial office, marina and residential projects in Pennsylvania and Maryland. Today Marcellous is a pillar of leadership in renewable energy for Maryland. He was significantly influential with the recent improvement to the Maryland Net Metering provisions and successfully implemented over 25 MW of solar and wind energy projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic. In May of this year Marcellous led the Alpha Energy team through the successful completion of the Solar Energy Feasibility Study of the Town of Ridgely, MD
David K. Murrin
Chairman & Co-Founder
A former US Marine, graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy, successful business owner and a licensed Master Mariner, Captain David K. Murrin has over 20 years of experience in leadership, entrepreneurship and business operations. As Commanding Officer he has been responsible for assets valued in excess of $1.5 billion, directed all shipboard operations including the safety of up to 700 crew members. As a Master Mariner, Captain Murrin has traveled the world many times over and proven himself as an asset in developing international relationships with US and foreign dignitaries, Port Authorities and competing business interests.
In 2008, Captain Murrin in conjunction with life-long friend and business partner Marcellous Butler pooled their talents to establish Alpha Energy, a community based renewable energy services company. With Alpha Energy, Captain Murrin has been a driving force behind Community Scale Wind and Solar Energy in Maryland. Whether in the US or overseas, he is a tenacious advocate for the new energy economy and Alpha Energy's "Community Power Initiative" establishing stability and prosperity in the areas they serve, providing energy security and environmental stewardship. In 2009, Mr. Murrin successfully completed the first comprehensive wind energy analysis for the US Naval Academy. Due largely to his efforts, Naval Facilities Command erected a 60 meter meteorological tower on Greenbury Point off of the Severn River to measure the on-site wind for further consideration of facility wind power.
David is also Alpha Energy’s lead for wholesale and retail electricity markets. David works regularly with Maryland Public Service Commission and several Maryland electricity suppliers. He is also our resident expert on the National Renewable Energy Credit (REC) market.
Mr. Burgess is responsible for ensuring that business operations are efficient and effective. He is the lead for project development and the regulatory affairs of the company, including site planning, local zoning and variances and environmental compliance. Mr. Burgess has over 10 years of experience as an energy and environmental professional and project manager with a variety of experience in multi-disciplinary projects.
Christopher has 115MW of solar and wind project experience. His responsibilities and area of expertise include new business development, feasibility studies, project planning, compliance documentation and governmental relations. Mr. Burgess holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Urban and Regional Planning from East Carolina University and a Master’s of Science in Environmental Science and Policy from Johns
Mr. Deveso is a Project Coordinator with Alpha Energy. Mr. Deveso brings with him over 3 years working in the Maritime Industry. As an active USCG Third Mate, Mr. Deveso has been an instructor at State University of New York, Maritime College aboard the school’s training ship, T.S. Empire State VI, teaching the students in various subjects including electronic navigation, terrestrial navigation and radar navigation, collision avoidance and theory.
Following the summer aboard the training ship, Mr. Deveso sailed on his USCG Third Mate Unlimited Tonnage Deck License. He has extensive working knowledge of electronic navigation equipment and techniques and is a USCG qualified radar observer. He has experience working aboard the US Navy’s sea-based radar platform, a missile range instrumentation vessel which operates a state of the art radar array.
Mr. Deveso earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Environmental Science and a minor in Marine Biology from State University of New York Maritime College in January 2015 along with his Coast Guard License
Anthony has served in senior management roles where he led projects in the United States, United Kingdom, the Middle East and Nigeria. Following a varied career in the commercial sector, he has served in senior management roles where he led information communication technology projects, focusing on capabilities in Strategic IT Alignment, Solution Delivery, Service Management & Operations. Anthony’s experience includes, business development, project development and product management.
He is responsible for increasing company growth and leveraging partners to provide consulting services and technical know-how in project planning and performance monitoring of energy storage, electrotechnical power sources, hydrogen fuel cells, nuclear, oil & gas, energy efficiency and renewable energy (EERE) in Technology Applications - biomass, geothermal, wind and solar.
Ahmed Zaky is a Canadian Citizen, a professional engineer with over 21 years of experience in Water, power, renewable energy and infrastructure LEED projects in Europe, Middle Easr, Asia, Canada and USA. Mr. Zaky earned his engineering degree from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania and MBA from London, England with commendation. With a massive network of contractors, consultants, EPC contractors, investment funds, Export credit agencies, EXIM Banks, commercial banks. Mr Zaky has a speciality in funding projects worldwide. Mr. Zaky is fluent in English, Arabic with conversational French and German
Robert J. Blandford
Robert is a member of the firm’s Data Analytics division and also works closely with colleagues in maritime regulatory compliance for Offshore Wind.
As a licensed Master Mariner, Robert brings with him over a decade of experience in the maritime sector. He works with Federal, State, and Non-Governmental Organizations to ensure clients needs and objectives are clearly articulated and met. He also assists the team through the creation of meaningful insights from both public and private datasets.
Prior to joining Alpha Energy, LLC, Robert served as Lead Data Analyst for the Naval Reserve Forces Command analytics cell where he implemented modeling and simulation for the optimization of force operations.
Robert’s service in the maritime sector included the offshore Energy sector aboard Ultra Deepwater Drill vessels and aboard Dynamic Positioning (DP) Anchor Handling Support Tugs. Further, Robert served the public sector via the US Navy’s Military Sealift Command aboard an array of vessels to include Joint High Speed Vessels (T-EPF), Ammunition & Dry Cargo vessels (T-AKE), Fleet Replenishment Oilers (T-AO), Fast Combat Support Vessels (T-AOE), and Amphibious Command Vessels (LCC).
Robert is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, the US Naval War College, and is currently furthering his education at Drexel University's LeBow School of Business focusing in Finance and Business Analytics.
